Even Mondays can be awesome in Niagara.
Years ago, when I worked in cubicle-land, I hated Mondays. But when you are greeted on Monday morning with a view like this:
and a delivery like this:
How can you complain?
I have just joined Great Escapes Wine Club, and my first delivery came today.
Just about every winery down here has a wine club, and I had a hard time choosing one to start with. What won me over for this one, is not only are the wines great, but you get a selection from three wineries: Jackson-Triggs, Inniskillin, and Le Clos Jordanne.
This, my friends, is a brilliant idea.
I think if some of the other wineries banded together for a mix and match wine club, lots of people would sign up lickety split.
I know I would – and blow a significantly larger portion of my monthly budget on Ontario wine. Something that
always never seems to happen now. But how can you beat fantastic Ontario wines delivered to your door every month? For people like me who can’t pick just one or two wineries, the mix and match box is ideal.
Aside from great wines, I get discounts at the winery restaurants, discounts on private winery tours, invitations to members-only events, and so much more.
It will also broaden my wine horizons. I tend to stick to Chardonnays, Merlots, Cabernet Sauvignons. This month’s offering from Inniskillin was the 2013 Discovery Series Susse Reserve Riesling. I have never really been a Riesling fan, except for ones I have had in Germany. They suggest pairing this with brunch dishes. Since I run a B&B, anything that goes with breakfast is right up my alley.
The other selection was from Le Clos Jordanne, the 2009 La Petite Colline Pinot Noir. I think I am going to save this one for awhile….
Tasting notes to follow.
