Well, hello. Welcome to my new site.
If it’s your first time here, it’s nice to meet you. If you’ve been reading my story for awhile, thanks so much for following along – and I hope you’ll like the changes you’ll see.
Change is always an interesting process, isn’t it. It can be scary. It can be good. It might be bad. It’s definitely unsettling. One thing it always does though, is move you in a different direction. When the changes are complete, you’re not in the same place, and you’re definitely not the same person as you were before.
This blog came about three years ago while I was dealing with some big changes in my life – among them, leaving Toronto, where I’d lived since birth, to start a new life and business in Niagara.
To be honest, I didn’t know where to begin to build a new life here. So I started to write about it.
As I look back now, that seems a little crazy. But that’s what I did.
Actually, there were several reasons why I started Niagarafied. I wanted it to be a vehicle for me to explore my new home. To help me feel more comfortable in a new place, away from my familiar city life. To help me get out more and do things. I’m a natural homebody at heart, and having my blog pushed me to get out of the house, and out of my comfort zone. As a result, I’ve met some fascinating people, made new friends, and had some wonderful experiences. What started out as a personal project/hobby/creative outlet evolved into becoming a pretty big part of my life.
It’s changed me, in many ways.
What’s kind of funny is that I started the blog to help me deal with change, but it created its own transformative process itself. I’m definitely not in the same place as I was three years ago, and I’m not the same person. Yeah, I don’t have that super-short hair anymore, but physical metamorphosis isn’t really what I’m talking about.
I’ve realized that it’s my outlook that’s changed. Three years ago Niagara was “the new place I’m living in”.
Now, it feels a bit more like home.
I hope you’ll come along with me as we keep exploring the places, events, things, and people that make our region so great. I’ll be introducing some new categories and topics, and a couple of new projects. There are also some potential series in the works. I’m really excited about these new things, and I can’t wait to share them all with you.
So let’s get started, shall we?
