Hi there. Thanks for stopping by.
My name’s Joanne, but my friends call me Jo. So please, call me Jo.
I’m a born-and-bred Toronto girl, who is now lucky to live in the Niagara region of Ontario, Canada. Our beautiful area is known for many things, so I’ll tell you about a few of them. We have outstanding natural wonders like Niagara Falls. We produce exceptional wines, and we have a pretty spectacular culinary scene too. We’re also known for our role in Canadian history – particularly the War of 1812. The town I live in, Niagara-on-the-Lake, is known as one of the prettiest towns in Canada, with many picturesque nineteenth century buildings, and a vibrant arts community.
As you can see, there’s a lot happening here, and a lot to talk about.
I moved to Niagara just over three years ago. My partner, Ken, and I left Toronto to run our own B&B, Highbrook, in Niagara-on-the-Lake. When I moved here, I made a deliberate choice to live my life differently than I had before. I wanted to learn and discover things about my new home. I wanted to go out more. I wanted to meet people, and hear their stories – even better if I could do so over a glass of local wine. In short, I wanted to look at things from a different viewpoint, and appreciate the good around me.
It’s a beautiful, inexact process.
I’m gradually learning the ropes of my new small-town life, and letting it change my own perspective as I go. So, as you may have guessed, this blog is all about how I’m becoming Niagarafied.
If you love exploring new places, hearing a good story, or sipping a delicious glass of wine, I’m sure we’ll be fast friends.
